Railways have a huge environmental impact. This is not only valid for the railways conceived as a transport modality, but also for railways as a mechanical system. The 2-day international conference Railways and Environment offers you a wide variety of themes, but all are focusing onthe railway system. Many abstracts have been submitted for this conference. The competent and enthusiastic scientific committee could compile a fascinating conference programme, centered around different themes.
